Today I've got a few treats to share - to give away actually! ... as you know, I'm a serious dessert lover - even more passionate about chocolate. I make a lot of chocolate - truffles, bars, clusters, and turtles. You may remember that I made choccies for Christmas gifts. Here's a little review...
Chocolate Caramel Nut Crunch Squares
Inside Peek
Fruit & Nut Clusters
Truffles: Coconut, Butter Toffee, Dark Chocolate Orange, Cinnamon Spice, Canadian Maple, Cardamom
More Truffles!
My favourite creation is the Chocolate Turtle, based on the original pecan/caramel/chocolate covered creation that pretty much everyone is familiar with.
I've been making these gems for a long time, but they made a special appearance at a David Wolfe event last September in Calgary. I made 400 turtles and they disappeared in minutes!
I brought some of my chocolate to the gang in NYC a few weeks ago. Check out the video below:
Freshly dipped turtles... Mmm!

As the title of today's post says, I've decided to do a:
Free Chocolate Turtles & Just Desserts Recipe Book Giveaway!
That's right, a home-made box of my chocolate turtles and one of my Just Desserts Recipe books. I'm still in the US, so it's easy for me to send within the country rather cheaply (as opposed to from Canada) - and Easter is comin up, so I thought it would be fun (I found the cutest easter box the other day to send them).
To Enter:
All you need to do is answer the 2 Questions below (I look forward to hearing from you).
It'll be a random draw, and the cut off is Sunday March 7 at midnight.
I'll then email you (make sure I have access to your email addy) to get your home address and your goodies will be on their way.
I will require your mailing addy by the next day, Monday March 8, otherwise I'll pick another name (I figure this is reasonable since most people are on the computer daily).
If you already have my book, you can pass it to a friend by sending their addy and I'll email them a copy!
Questions:
1. What was your favourite childhood chocolate/candy treat?
2. What is your favourite chocolate treat these days?
I'll go first and show you how its done...
My Answers:
1. Smarties & Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
2. Chocolate TURTLES!
** Feel free to post this on Facebook, Twitter, or your own Blog. I will be hosting more giveaways in the future, and just love spreading the choccie vibes.

Hurray for chocolate! Have a beautiful day!

«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 224 Newer› Newest»My favorite treat as a child was most definitely twix bars! Nowadays, my palate would much prefer a One Lucky Duck raw mallomar, chocolate caramel bar, or lemon bar! Mmmm.
Yum yum, those chocolates look divine. What a great giveaway, Heathy!
Here are my answers:
1. Coffee Crisp (I always tried to eat it in "layers" and made an awful mess of it, but it was so good)!
2. Camino's coconut chocolate bar (it's just dark chocolate with shredded coconut; my tastes have obviously evolved!)
Yay! for chocolate!
1-As a kid, I LOVED anything peanut butter + chocolate. My mother use to make peanut butter balls coated in chocolate!
2-That combo has stuck, and still to this day, i adore anything peanut butter and chocolate. Luckily there are better sources for high quality peanut products!
OMG...I had to blink twice to see if I read this right...thank goodness I did....Heathy..great giveaway..girl!
#1 Snickers
#2 any dark choc. with almonds and cherries or blueberries, or toffee!
Can't wait!...he he!
xoxo
1. What was your favourite childhood chocolate/candy treat?
I think it would be a three-way tie:
a) Marathon Bars (sadly no more)
b) Chocolate Oompa Loompas (I don't think they make these anymore either)
c) Hershey's Special Dark
2. What is your favourite chocolate treat these days?
I've been digging chocolate avocado pudding! And I do love me a chocolate truffle. :)
as a child i use to love love love bounty bars...nowadays i love vegan (dark) chocolate...or anything with raw chocolate powder...
does it matter that i live in canada? toronto, ontario?
p.s. your creations are just so drool worthy!!!! thanks for sharing your recipes with us!!!
Hey Heath! It's Ashley, since March 8th is my birthday I figure I have to enter!
Fav childhood treat: chocolate covered cherries.
Now: Fruit & Nut bars - Preferably yours!!
Heathy...it's up on facebook now!
xoxo
1. three muskateers
2. a really nice dark chocolate bar. Mmm!
What a fun idea!
I'm so excited for this giveaway!!
My favorite treat as a child was those 5 cent candies and peanut butter cups. My favorite chocolate treat these days is chocolate dipped date truffles from Carmella's blog.
1. Kit-Kat bars
2. A high-quality very dark chocolate bar with espresso, ginger, or cacao nibs. Yum!
1. As a kid I couldn't get enough Snickers or Reeses peanut butter cups.
2. Since becoming raw I've yet to try anyone else's raw treats other than Rawsome's bars but those aren't exactly.... candy-like. For the past couple months I've just been making a fudgy sauce and spreading it on oranges. Reminds me of those orange flavored chocolate oranges I put in the boys stockings at Christmas.
Jersey Caramels!! I think they're only available in NZ & OZ mmmm sickly sweet caramel http://www.remarkablesweetshop.co.nz/catalog/P8894_Jersey-Caramels.html
Nowadays it'd have to be red licorice with choc filling, I've recreated these by making choc rolled up inside berry leather :)
I'm in NZ so if by chance my name is picked out of the hat you could give the choccies to someone deserving but I would love your book emailed :)
1. So hard to choose! I did love chocolate chip cookies...and Devil's food donuts.
2. Usually a blended avocado or banana chocolate mousse or smoothie.
1. What was your favourite childhood chocolate/candy treat?
Peach flavored Jolly Ranchers. Which probably has something to do with the fact I am from GA and love everything peachy!
2. What is your favourite chocolate treat these days?
EASILY your Double Chocolate Energy Bars. My husband's coworkers have flipped for them and now I make batches to send to his coworkers.
Oh my goodness those choccies look SO wonderful. Thank you for giving them away!!
1. My favorite childhood treat was Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
2. Nowadays I tweak my old fave just slightly and make almond butter drops with a little cacao on top - YUM.
Hi Heather! What a giveaway! Here are my answers:
1. Peanut M&Ms
2. That's a tough one, based on my preferences right now I'd say these raw apricot/pumpkin seed clusters I found out the Whole Foods!
Hey Girl!
My favourite chocolate treat as a kid was the same as yours!! Smarties!! I loved saving the pink ones for last! :) hehe
Nowadys, I'm all about the Green and Blacks 85% dark chocolate bar -sooo yummy!!
Thanks for the giveaway!! xoxo
This is so hard for me to narrow down!
1. Tagalong Girl Scout cookies (pb in middle choc on outside)
2. Uli Mana truffles... (but, haven't tried your truffles yet!)
I love turtles then and now.
I love the combo of caramel and Chocolate.

Wow! Heather, I had no idea you made choccies for David Wolfe! Awesome. Well, here is my little story:
I was so infatuated with candy, chocolate, et al, that my darling aunt used to tell me my favorite bed-time story 'The Land of Candy' whenever she would 'baby-sit' me. The 'land' was made entirely out of candy! I remember the clouds were cotton candy, and the swimming pool was filled with liquid chocolate. Hahah anyways ;-)
My favorite chocolate as a child was:

My favourite raw treat was and will always be, licking out the bowl and spoon and eating the gooey chocolate batter mixture.

So my answer is pure, unadulterated, raw chocolate!! I would love your ebook to help me into the world of raw desserts and convert my friends over here in England.
My hubby and I are going to NYC in August (my first time - yay!) and I can't wait to find some new sweety favourites at One Lucky Duck. Thanks for your great recent NY posts.

Now: My current favorite is the recipe I recently created for Raw Fudgy Chocolate Fruit and Nut Macaroons - every time I pass the freezer I sneek one.
I just made a post on my blog to advertise your giveaway even though it will decrease my slim chances of winning this coveted prize :)

Childhood was Cadbury's Cream Egg! Not enough choc of course but the combo of choc and all that colored sugar - had me zinging for hours!
These days I love to make my own truffles but if I buy something its usually Righteously Raw bars or Ulimana truffles. I am also known for eating cacao paste chunks straight up. (Do you think I have a problem...??!!)
I LOVED fruity Starburst chews as a kid (and actually wasn't a huge fan of chocolate...gasp! My mother always marveled at how I was the only kid to turn down candy bars like Snickers, etc.) I think my lack of love for chocolate had something to do with a lack of exposure to GOOD chocolate (all I knew of back then was Hershey's).
Nowadays I now LOVE organic Dark chocolate...the darker the better (like 85%)!! Which is why my favorite dessert is raw chocolate because I can control the quality (and quantity) of cocoa and all the other ingredients in order to make the PERFECT (and Healthiest) sweet treat!!

1) Favorite dessert as a child: I loved all chocolate candy bars. Reeses, Butterfingers, Almond Joys, and Pay Days were my favorites.
2) Today I love homemade fudge, or homemade pb or ab cups.
My favorite child hood treat has to be between a reeses peanut butter cup, and a butter finger. Now my favorite chocolate treat is any raw chocolate :).
As a kid, it was Baby Ruth bars. Now it would be Reese's PB Cups.
Your desserts look divine!
My favorite childhood chocolate was snickers.
Now, my favorite chocolate is the one I make with coconut creme, cacao and ground stevia leaf as the base. It is very divine ; )
As a child my favorite was red licorice and almost all chocolate creations. Now-a-days my favorites are coconut peppermint patty, chocolate almonds, coconut fudge, avocado mousse, and my own concoction of almond butter+coconut butter+carob+a little bit of stevia, all raw of course :-), YUMMY!!!
As a child, I love red licorice and most chocolate creations. Now I love coconut chocolate mint patty, coconut fudge, avocado chocolate mousse, chocolate covered almonds, and my own little concoction of almond butter+coconut butter+carob+stevia, yummy!!!
1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
2. Apple Slices drenched in almond butter and sprinkled with raisins and choco! YUM!
mine were coconut mushrooms, chocolate covered raisins, or chocolate buttons. And it's still the same now! Which iswhy I'd love to win a copy of your book, I could use the dark chocolate recipe to help me rawify them! =)
1. I used to love when my mom made that Chex mix that's all covered in chocolate and peanut butter.
2. Swedish chokladbollar - I've tried out a raw version, yum!
Your chocolate turtles look so good!
Okay, I know how to make chocolate, but I'd much rather have them arrive at my door, especially if it is from you :-)
As a child I loved just about every candy, so it is hard to pick just one. Sometimes I had to be enticed by the packaging or some gimmick. With that in mind, I guess I'd pick candy jewelry, because I felt pretty wearing it.
When it came to chocolate, I could eat it all, too, but I really have a special memory of Junior Mints. My Nanny, who is no longer around, used to give them to me.
I enjoy raw chocolate like your truffles, but lately, I've been making less sweet puddings. I try to make non chocolate varieties every once and a while. They just aren't the same as the chocolate ones.
When I was little I used to like any candy....literally haha. But one of my top faves was Mike & Ikes! These days I love anything dark chocolate! Such an awesome giveaway...thanks Heathy!
1. Mr. Goodbar. I think. I liked a LOT :D

1. Whatchamacallit candy bars(loved them before I learned better).

My absolute favorite chocolate childhood treat was Rocky Road ice cream. It was my father's favorite and he would take me for ice cream cones once a month. It was by far some of my best childhood memories!
To this day I have tried to make raw versions of rocky road ice cream as well as raw ice cream cones without luck. Something is missing with the marshmallows.
oops! I almost forgot! To this day my favorite chocolate treat is any type of raw chocolate truffle!
My 4 year old and I have been experimenting for that perfect melt-in-your-mouth recipe. The fun is in the experimenting! :)
Yum! I LIVE for chocolate!!!! Raw chocolate that is!
I would LOVE to experience your creations!!!
You're the best! Thank you for spreading the raw chocolate LOVE!
1. My favorite dessert as a kid was chocolate, I loved chocolate bars with nuts, chocolate truffles! and especially raspberry chocolate truffles!
2. Today my favorite dessert is chocolate - dark chocolate or raw chocolate treats!
I have yet to find a raw raspberry chocolate truffle.
When I was a child my favorite treat was the Rice Dream Mint Pie, I wasn't allowed to eat much sugar so these were an extra special treat.
Right now I'm really into cacao nibs, I crave chocolate like crazy but need to be careful about eating too much sugar, so these satisfy my craving perfectly. Plus I love the consistency and crunch!
My favorite chocolate when I was a kid was Cote D'or's dark hazelnut chocolate. Now I like raw chocolate with almonds, dried coconut, and dates...I also add a little bit of maple syrup...Yummo!
Thank you so much for your blog and the givaway. I am really interested in both! I am just starting out in the raw world...
As a kid, I loved chocolate covered raisins. I see them and they remind me of childhood and going to the drive in.
Now, I am still getting into raw chocolate. Looking at these comments, I am getting lots of ideas...I need some recipes...YUM!

Hi Heathy!
My favorite candy as a child was those candied orange slices! My dad used to buy them at Sears (they were his fav). I remember they were covered with sugar! Oh!

Oh my goodness...I would LOVE to be entered into this drawing...
I've been really fighting with eating better and my normal downfall is due to my sweettooth! Juicing/Smoothies...no problem...sweet tooth is horrible though despite adding so many greens! I'm just naturally sweet I guess! ;) But on a serious note, most of my extended family is morbidly obese and I am terrified for not just my own life, but my childrens. Our food habits tend to lead to a path I don't want to continue following...I've seen the end result. I want to be able to enjoy my life with my children, not sit and watch while I catch my breath...or worse...
I'd really love the chance to learn how to eat sweets that are better for my body..so to answer your questions:
1. Snickers...loved loved loved them as a child...
2. Nowadays...I'd have to say literally any chocolate/caramel combination! I have stayed pretty true to my love of sweets! ;)
Thank you for this opportunity to learn more about how to feed my family and sweet addiction naturally!
Have a beautiful day!
Jes
My favorite chocolate treat as a child was my mom's Ho-Ho Cake (homemade chocolate cake with white frosting, then chocolate frosting) mmmm! Today milk chocolate bars with caramel are my favorite!
