NYC Adventures - Part 2

The NYC saga continues with more wining & dining, great friends, shopping, walking, and heaps of fun! My good friend Courtney Pool also came up for a visit, all the way from Patagonia, AZ. You might like to check out her trip post here. It was so great to see her again (the last time was a few years ago when I visited The Tree of Life).

I honestly don't know where to begin because I have soooo many great pics, but I'll give a quick overview. I enjoyed another dinner at Pure Food & Wine with Philip Mc Cluskey, Courtney Pool, Dhrumil Purohit, and Ben Tseitlin.

Enjoying our girlie berry drinks!
Courtney ordered the Tamales - don't they look awesome?!

I enjoyed a White Light Tini - lemongrass, ginger, green tea, sake
I had the S&M Salad (Named after Sarma & Matthew when they started the restaurant and the name stuck). This is the best salad ever: loads of greens, avocado, dulse, and rosemary quackers (which are sold in One Lucky Duck).
On the house: Mini Mushroom Patty Burger - on ezekiel bread, with kraut, and other toppings.
Philip and I
Pure's Kitchen - Can you see a few of them giving a wave?! I also met their cool dessert chef, Patricia, who happened to recognize me! Go figure! It was cool to meet her - I'm totally envious of her job!
We had a stop at One Lucky Duck (just around the corner from Pure), after dinner to pick up some ice cream for dessert. As you can see, Court can't contain herself - yes it's that good!
Goodies galore: From left to right: Mallomars, moonpies, chocolate ganache torte, & linzer tarte
Cookies, Key Lime Pies, Chocolate Banana Cream Pies (I've had the banana ones before - they're uber good!)
Lemon Bars & Tiramisu
OK...just one more pichy of the yumminess...
We indulged in most of OLD's ice cream flavours, back at Dhru's.

Of course I had to get a moon pie! I enjoyed half of it over top my ice cream. Yum!
That's all for now... a trip to Quintessence, cake making, and more good times still to come!

I am loving your NYC posts, I just wish I could have gone too! I have a question for you though - I've been playing around with making my own raw chocolate bars, but I'm having trouble getting a good consistency on the chocolate coating. I usually make a nut base and then roll it in a chocolate coating that I make using coconut oil and raw cacao powder, it hardens once I put it in the fridge or freezer, but when I'm going to eat the bars the chocolate coating melts so easily and has a tendency to taste VERY oily. Any tips? Thanks!

Pure Food & Wine looks like such an amazing place. I'm making a trip from Boston to PA in a month or so and I'm thinking I might have to make a stop there, despite how much I despise traffic in NYC.

Thanks guys! Yes, it really is so much fun here!

Tina, it depends what ratios you're using for your chocolate. Have you tried this recipe: http://www.rawgoddessheathy.com/2009/09/raw-chocolate-101.html
Otherwise, you might consider making a cacao butter based chocolate which will hold at room temperature. There's one in the Basics Section of my book: http://www.rawgoddessheathy.com/2008/12/raw-goddess-heathys-just-desserts-ebook.html

Happy chocolate making!

Bitt - ah yes! Actually I made moon pies and do plan on making mallomars again (i did try them once but that was before I actually had one). http://www.rawgoddessheathy.com/2008/02/rawdorable-goodies-part-2-cookie-land.html

swimming through all the drool in here to the keyboard...

I love the way the food is displayed. The gardenburger especially. And it's all making me so hungry! I'm in CT and am now definitely planning a trip to NYC just for this! Thanks so much for sharing all the pics! My husband catches me looking at this and says "more food porn? Honey, you have a problem!" ;-)
