Fun times in the city continue and seem to get better and better...
Courtney and I made my Strawberry Lime Mousse Cake for a potluck at Dhru's last weekend. We actually made a video of our production, but it definitely needs some editing (which I don't know how to do yet since my video cam is fairly new). Anywho, we ended up making a few modifications. For starters, there were no measuring devices, so we had to wing it. Another interesting thing was using store bought strawberries, which I've never done before. I go strawberry picking in the summer at a local farm and freeze heaps to last the winter. They're smaller and sweeter than what is found in the store. Despite being organic, the ones we used were flavourless, and needed more sweetner... but it needed an extra kick, so we used some frozen cherries as well. It boosted the flavour and the colour of the cake.
In addition to strawberries on the top, I whipped up a cherry lime puree: frozen cherries, lime juice, and agave. After chilling a bit, it turned jelly-like.
We're proud of our cake... and we're deciding whether or not to share it!
The final thing! Topped with chopped brazil nuts. I think it was a hit, it all got eaten :)
We got just a little koo-koo :)
Time out for computer work
We're eating delicious green soupy!
I love this pic of the orchids
We had a trip to Quintessence Restaurant for brunch. I just enjoyed the Chai Latte that I had during my first trip since I was going to meet a friend at One Lucky Duck for lunch afterward.
A few people shared this Banana Mango Crepe w whipped cream and chocolate sauce
Bagels w cream cheeze, caramelized onions & tomato
Great friendship, great times... I am grateful :)
