The Cleanse Continues

With 3 days down, I was into the swing of things as we went into day 4 of our New Years Juice Fast...

Day 4
I felt my strength and energy return which was nice since I had really low energy during the first 3 days. We even did a super power yoga session (we'd been doing light stretches the previous days).

While Adam and I intended to fast for 7 days again, we decided to cut it a bit short this time around.
Our day began with hot lemon water, followed soon after by a juice consisting of: celery/cucumber/apple/ginger.
In the afternoon we had a great blend of: cucumber/grapefruit/orange - I'd never tried this combo before, but it was sweet and bright with lots of flavour.
We consumed lots of reishi mushroom and pau d'arco tea along with plain hot water as the day went on, and by early evening I had a celery/cucumber blend, while Adam sipped on wildblueberry tea with honey. I was really hungry that evening... I kept thinking "these hunger pains should be gone by now! sheesh!" I figured I'd just go to sleep early to forget about it, and was in bed by 10pm, but was restless... actually both of us were - perhaps it was the fast combined with a lot of mental stimulation from the day in the form of new ideas, projects, etc...

By 5am, after tossing and turning, the hunger was still really present so I decided to get up and eat a mandarin orange. AH! Yummmalicious! I proceeded to read Living Raw Food, by Sarma Melngailis, which I had received for Christmas but haven't had the time to go through yet. Adam joined me and did some writing - we finally crashed out past 6am...

Day 5

Even though we're not fasting anymore, we're continuing with a cleanse diet for a bit, slowly easing into "normal" eating. Tomorrow we'll do a liver flush to get some internal cleaning... I definitely need it.

Today's Menu:
Morning- hot lemon water, 3 mandarin oranges (I was excited to eat them)

Snack- The most delicious Superfood tea ever! I did a batch of chaga tea and blended it with lucuma, maca, mesquite, bee pollen, pure maple syrup, ginger, and cinnamon.

Lunch - Cucumber/celery soup - a very watery soup since we're not eating fats for a bit. I had a little mishap. I blended peeled cucumber, celery, hot water, garlic, and lemon juice - which was perfectly fine. But then I had to go ahead and ruin it by adding some dulse (often i add some ground kelp and it's fine) - it was seriously overpowering and fishy... so I added more of everything else in addition to some dill. It was OK, but I couldn't finish my bowl so Adam did.

Afternoon - Fruit Smoothie! We have the most wonderful pineapple which was the base... recipe coming soon!

Dinner - Superfood tea (again)/ Grapefruit

Excited and nervous for my first liver flush tomorrow!

Have you ever done an organic coffee enema? I am still working up the courage to do it myself. I learned about it watching the documentary "The Beautiful Truth". I've been battling a bug for the past three days so I will have to give your drinks a try.
Thanks! I love your blog!

I get night hyper while juice feasting too. And I can get hungry at night. I have to have a bit of juice right before bed in order to not feel starved.

Can you tell me the theory behind the pau d'arco tea?
